When Is it Okay To Be Real

I have chosen to just be honest.
I want a baby.
So badly. Muchly.
But God has said "not now".
And I'm ok with that. Most days.
But that doesn't mean the desire is gone.

Some days the longing is palpable.
Today for instance.
There are 3 small babies at church and 5 swellling mama's.
It hit at a very odd moment indeed.
Tears came.

I saw one those sweet babies in the nursery so I asked his mama if I could have for a little.
Sweet Dear said "Sure, help him burp while you're at it!" :D
Eventually he wanted his mama and my rams were empty again.

Very near the end of service, another was available for holding.
She is just a few weeks younger than my BabyLost Hannah would be.
It bites to hold someone so small and feel so right.
But I savor the moment and share joy with her Mama.

Someone asked about me wishing I had one of "those" .
Yes. In a word, yes!
But I choose to speak honesty.
I don't think I'll be that kind of Blessed for quite a while.
I want a baby so badly.
I refuse to gloss it over.
I dare not to be demure and act as if I hadn't noticed everyone but me has a new life.

Some people aren't well with that.
Some don't know what to say. I'm ok with that.
Others must bring out their favorite platitudes.
"We all have seasons... blah blah blah..."
I let it go. 'Tis neither here nor there.

But I choose to speak honestly.

Laurel & Harmony

Laurel

Girl, born August 1996

Guardian Angel

Laurel has arthrogryposis — and look at that beautiful smile!

She’s already 15 years old, and has less than 6 months (from January 2012) to be adopted, or she loses all hope for a future.

Laurel is blessed to be in a very good older child orphanage for those with mostly physical disabilities.  Her orphanage has been supported by many humanitarian aid groups, and offers child sponsorship programs and trips for these children.  Laurel does face transfer to an adult mental institution SOON, and at 16 she will no longer legally be able to be adopted at all. We simply can not let this happen to her.

Our facilitation team has met Laurel…she is very smart and friendly, and she SO wants a family of her own.  Laurel is in a region which often waives the 10 day waiting period!

An additional $3000 grant is available to help with Laurel’s adoption (above and beyond her RR funds)

Larger families and older parents welcome.  Must be home study approved to commit.

$8789.31 is available towards the cost of my adoption!
So what does all ^^that^^ mean? This sweet 15 yo could probably walk with some modern medical help. More importantly SHE BEGS FOR A FAMILY. What will happen if no one saves her?  Adult Mental Institution. Bc her legs and hands are a bit different than yours.

Harmony

Girl, Born July 1996

ABIhkhc–Down Syndrome, 15 years old, NEEDS HOME STUDY AND USICS I800A FILED BY JUNE 2012

I know in my heart that if anyone can help this beautiful 15 year old girl with Down syndrome find a family, it is the advocates at Reece’s Rainbow!   If she is not adopted by July of 2012, she will no longer be eligible for adoption AT ALL.   We need an experienced family with a completed or near complete home study, who has adopted older children with special needs internationally before.

Present Carer:  Harmony is receiving secondary education at a middle school and has been residing at the school’s boarding section since 2002.

Present Development:  Although Hamony is a girl with Down Syndrome and a number of medical problems, her medical issues had been subsided after receiving treatments and operations.  Due to left severe hearing loss, right profound hearing loss, moderate hyperopia, astigmatism and nystagmus, Harmony has to wear hearing aids and spectacles in school.  However, she does not put them on in the dorm and yet can do very well.  She understands her worker’s instructions well and has no communication problems with her housemates.  Harmony’s behavior and emotions are stable.  She has acquired self care skills and managed to bathe independently, wash her hair, hang up and fold her clothes neatly.  She also knows how to seek help from the social worker when her toys are seized or is pinched by other housemates.  Her appetite is good.  She eats well and does not spend a lot of time in eating.

Harmony loves learning and is attentive in class.  She completes her homework voluntarily.  She understands and recognizes different parts of the body.  She also recognizes the name tag of her classmates and calls out their names.  At present, she learns Chinese language by using reading cards and can pronounce two syllables.  She is described as patient, helpful and playful.  She loves music and plays the hand bell well.  She usually imitates the behaviors of others, manages to string a bead and slides with a pair of roller blades.  She can stay focused when playing with puzzles, play-dough and drawing with a pen.  She also enjoys playing with younger children, such as chasing and hitting each other and dancing together.  Being a helper of the social worker, she stops a classmate from hitting the other and prevents a social worker from falling down.  She used to be very exciting towards peoples and was stubborn.  When her want was declined, she threw a temper.  Fortunately, she can control her emotions and follow instructions after being explained.  When she has home leave at a social worker’s home during weekends, she follows the rules well and gets along well with the family members of the social worker.

  • Full medical and social info available
  • EASY travel (both parents for 4-7 days)
  • Relatively low cost
  • No more than 5 children at home
  • Married couples only

$1242.64 is available towards the cost of my adoption!

Donations are tax deductible.

Harmony is Asian and perfectly beautiful.  She has a huge advantage that is unusual. She goes to school and does really good work. That is just nearly unheard of opportunity.
Would you like to see her picture? The ONLY place you will find her picture online is at this link http://covenantbuilders.blogspot.com/2012/03/fun-friday-giveaway-inside-giveaway.html    Her country will not allow even the advocacy agencies to keep it up. And when this giveaway ends I am SURE her picture will go away too.
I don't really know what else to tell you except she needs a mama! She wants one in the worst of ways. And if none steps forward soon? ... ugh.

Be Blessed!

World Down Syndrome Day

If you follow my facebook you should pretty much know how I feel about DS kids. They have ALWAYS held a very special place in my heart. Ask my siblings. It's just always been there.
To know that children with DS are considered disposable in large parts of the world is unthinkable. Really? Junk? But alas, yes.

True story: A set of parents recently had their 6 mo old lovey to the Dr for a checkup. At the appointment the Dr pointed out that the boy did indeed have Down Syndrome. The parents dropped him off at the orphanage on the way home. Perfectly healthy, growing well, Down Syndrome child. Can you wrap your head around that?
I can't!

So to celebrate todays chromosomally enhanced, extra special deal, I am sharing with you a brilliant giveaway.
Want an opportunity to win a Canon EOS Rebel?
Want to get your hands on a brand new just revealed iPad?
Wish you could have $500 to spend on Amazon?

GO! donate to this great pot.
